High Stakes, Human Judgement: Applied AI for Legal and the EU AI Act

[Two Minds. One Future] – UnitedLex Summit Returns to London on October 13, 2026

Published:

Last year, the 2025 UnitedLex Summit set the stage with much discussion and interest around early AI adoption. Panelists made it clear: treat AI as any other tool, apply proven evaluation methods, clean up your data, and move forward with confidence. One year later, most legal teams aren’t struggling with AI itself, but they are struggling to achieve the right outcomes.

Because many organizations are now past or in the midst of their initial AI launch phases, this year’s summit will focus on the work that turns initial ambition into action and impact.

Under the theme, Two Minds. One Future, expert panelists and legal professionals will explore what it takes for humans and AI to partner together for legal excellence. Our agenda features more hands-on style sessions to help you dig into what happens after the investment is made – when the technology is turned on, and you’re now tasked with proving the ROI.

  • Legal Operations Panel: AI Ready or Not?
AI readiness is being driven by new ways of working with data, expanded analytics, and automation. Our expert panelists will cover how to drive transformation, measure real ROI, and balance technology adoption with sound judgment and governance.
  • Intellectual Property Panel: Strategy in the Generative AI Era
This session dives into the evolving IP landscape amid generative AI, covering patentability of AI inventions, ownership of AI-generated content, trademark protection for AI-branded assets, global enforcement challenges, and defensive strategies.
  • AI Workshop I: Prompt Library
Working individually, you will learn basic prompting techniques and best practices to develop a portable prompt library for your legal team.
  • Litigation Panel: AI in eDiscovery, evidence, and ethics
Explore how AI is revolutionizing litigation strategy and eDiscovery practices through predictive tools and automation. We’ll examine use cases, agentic AI workflows, and managing risk, ethics, and defensibility.
  • Privacy & Compliance Panel: Guardrails for AI Innovation and Adoption
AI innovation without guardrails creates risk. But too many guardrails can stop innovation entirely—so where should Legal draw the line? This session covers workflow automation, matter and contract data intelligence, spend analytics, integration challenges, and how to measure meaningful ROI.
  • AI Workshop II: Rapid Roundtables
Get moving! In our final session of the day, you’ll engage in group discussions and debates to evaluate where AI delivers real value, where risks outweigh rewards, and how to balance innovation with governance.

Now in its third year, the UnitedLex Summit continues to grow under the direction of Rajitha Boer, UnitedLex Chief Client Officer, who has long championed this London-based event before joining UnitedLex in 2023.
