Litigation & Regulatory Services
With unpredictable and consistently rising costs, litigation is one of the largest line items in the corporate legal budget. By quantifying your legal spend and establishing key cost and efficiency metrics—not simply reducing billable hours and unit rates—UnitedLex transforms how legal services are procured and delivered. We combine technology, legal expertise, and process innovation to achieve lower total cost and higher operational performance throughout each phase of the litigation, investigation, and regulatory life cycles.
Business Intelligence for Litigation
We understand that every case team faces unique challenges, and we apply our proprietary technology, processes, and legal business intelligence to devise strategy and define what success means for you. Our team analyzes your historical litigation costs, down to the invoice level, providing quantifiable metrics to inform decisions about your future litigation spend. This is critical to cost-containment and optimization when negotiating alternative fee arrangements and evaluating outside counsel. We eliminate the administrative burden associated with matter intake, budget tracking, and invoice approval to align legal spend with budgetary objectives.
Our structured methodology enables you to:
- Understand the true cost of litigation and the metrics that matter.
- Manage the efficiency of the litigation and investigations process, reducing discovery costs by an average of 30%.
- Define quantifiable metrics that will hold providers to new performance standards.
- Drive substantial cost savings and provide true cost predictability.
- Limit unforeseen costs for services and control the budget.
- Implement invoice review protocols that ensure compliance with billing guidelines.
On average, UnitedLex clients achieve 30% cost reduction. We both quantify and guarantee your savings, so you can budget with confidence year-over-year.

Litigation & Regulatory Services
Enterprise Discovery Program Management
We design, implement, and operationalize a resource-aligned program for each phase of the discovery process. Our long-tenured team of lawyers, technologists, and analysts partner with your outside counsel to ensure consistency and mitigate risk across the enterprise. This programmatic approach allows your corporate legal department to improve data governance, fix perennial process pain points for lawyers, and improve operational efficiency while achieving significant cost savings.
We quantify every dollar spent on discovery and find that this total is often much higher than expected. We then implement new processes that improve defensibility and legal intelligence, and contractually commit to reducing total discovery spend—eliminating hidden costs and wasted spend to save clients 30%, on average.
eDiscovery Consulting and Technology
Large volumes of data, stringent security and privacy regulations, cross-border complications, and emerging data sources compound complexity in the discovery process. We address every discovery component—from forensics through production—using our best-in-class technology, industry insight, and legal expertise.
Our proprietary technology platform, Questio, combined with our expert consultant-led process, provides accurate, early legal intelligence to validate and strengthen your case with key documents within days of collecting data. We work with your law firm partners to defensibly identify and exclude the massive numbers of false positives that impact downstream costs.
Forensics and Data Collection
Recovering electronically stored information (ESI) can be expensive and time-consuming. We forensically capture data from any electronic source and offer on-site or remote support, providing speed and significant cost savings.
Our UnitedLex Collection Utility (UCU) provides unparalleled visibility into the data at the time of collection and is used in both remote and on-site collections. In addition to remote capabilities for traditional data sources, we can remotely capture data from thousands of mobile devices (including Android, iPhone, and Blackberry). Using our workflow, the downtime of mobile devices is minimal—one hour or less, as compared to days of downtime with traditional mobile device collections.
Legal hold, if not properly executed, can compromise your case and expose you to significant risk. An efficient process reduces your risk of data loss and costs associated with sanctions or litigation. We leverage our Relativity Legal Hold environment, coupled with consulting expertise and dedicated resources, to implement a defensible and cost-effective legal hold program that ensures you preserve the data you need, while avoiding costly over-preservation.
Managed Document Review
Clients depend on our global reach, proprietary technology, and proven processes to handle complex document review engagements and deliver exceptional results. We consistently maintain industry-leading productivity and performance standards while reviewing documents in multiple languages. We provide meticulous attention to detail with close adherence to deadlines and budget for each matter.
Our approach to managed document review is unique—we go beyond the outsourcing of legal services to also include eDiscovery process assessment, design, and implementation. Knowing that most eDiscovery costs reside within document review, we leverage technology and workspace analytics first to reduce the volume of data subject to human review and then prioritize the remaining data set to allow for the most efficient and defensible discovery process.
With more than 2,700 attorneys and legal process specialists across more than a dozen global delivery centers, we provide our clients with immediate discovery support throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and India.
Data Hosting, Processing and Production
As data volume grows at a record pace, corporate law departments and outside counsel worldwide rely on us to host and maintain their most sensitive information. Our commitment to technology development and infrastructure investment enables us to handle aggressive court timelines swiftly and defensibly. As an Orange-Level Best-in-Service Hosting Partner with one of the largest Relativity environments in the world, we meet the highest industry standards for connectivity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, and global availability. We maintain ISO 27001 and comply with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework.
We leverage industry-leading eDiscovery processing platforms, including Nuix, Relativity, and IPRO, and combine each with our proprietary automation and scripting to minimize costs. With Questio, we then guarantee at least a 90% cull rate—compared to an industry average of 70%–80%—before promoting the data for human review.
Our processing team includes Project Management Professionals (PMP), Relativity Masters, and Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists members who operate 24/7/365 in a “chasing the sun” model from offices around the world. We use automation to accelerate processing time and provide status reports throughout a project.
We also offer processing, review, and production services at remote sites when required, such as when a client has extremely sensitive data that cannot leave its offices. We can easily set up a temporary solution to work with that data at the client site from start to finish.
